Artist Statement

Art has been part of my life since childhood. I tried various media in my young years and settled into jewelry art. Making an art in which I continue to enjoy expressing myself. Over the last several years I have been expanding the number of media with which I am comfortable. Ceramics, watercolor, art glass, steel, printmaking and digital designs are some of the areas into which I have invested my time and my artistic visions.

I have also spent considerable time and energy helping to make art more accessible to everyone in our society. As a Board Member of the Arts Council of Tulare County I am proud of my part in bringing artists into classrooms throughout Tulare County. Helping children to appreciate and understand art at a young age can only make them better adults, and study after study has shown that students who experience art do better in math, science and critical thinking.

I also appreciate the responsibility I have taken on as chair of the Fine Arts & Photography department at the Tulare County Fair. The fair represents, for many fine artists in our county, the only opportunity they have to show the public what they can do. The fair provides, for many residents of the county, their only opportunity all year to experience art.

Creating art in any media or dimension is very fulfilling. I especially enjoy combining multiple mediums and embracing the challenges that may present themselves. I am looking forward to the world of structural steel, copper and glass and any other medium that I find applicable.
